Purpose
Provide specially designed instruction to address the needs of students with moderate cognitive impairment in the areas of communication, literacy, independent living skills, and community-based vocational instruction.
Description
Services are provided in the Skills for Learning and Living (SLL) classroom for some or most of the instructional day. Opportunities to be included with typically developing peers are determined by the ARD/IEP committee. Benchmark assessments support progress monitoring and goal mastery.

Staffing

Elementary:6-12 students
Secondary:8-15 students

Entrance Criteria
Student must be identified by the ARD/IEP committee as a student with moderate cognitive impairment who requires instruction in an alternate curriculum aligned with alternate state standards.
Exit Criteria
Must be able to perform in a more inclusive setting for academic instruction aligned with the standard curriculum with supplementary aids and services.
